Holy cow! I’ve been away from this blog for MUCH longer than intended. But I’ve been having so much fun, spending time with my kids and SEWING. And I learned a few things while I was on my little hiatus, the first and foremost being this: I have a very limited amount of time on the loose! I love doing this blog, but I love sewing too, and I can’t do a lot of sewing when I spend all my free time on the computer. So I’m giving myself permission to scale back on my blog just a little bit. I’m going to cut out a few things I’ve done in the past and come up with a new schedule that will allow me to still write (which I love doing) but still do other fun things as well. This is particularly important because it is now September which means it is my busy season getting ready for Halloween! This year I’ll be sewing my niece’s costume in addition to my own family’s costumes, and I can hardly wait. I’ll definitely be sharing things as I go along!
Anyway, back to the topic at hand: Makeup Monday! Today I’m continuing my previous posts on Playing with Color. So far I’ve discussed using eyeliner as color (or colors) and I shared how I wear color on my entire lid. And today I’m going to show you how you can add just a small pop of color to your lid to create a look that really stands out!
I LOVED coming up with this look. It was seriously so fun to create and I was giddy with the results.
I think the look is pretty and interesting, without being too crazy-overpowering!
Here’s how I did it:
- Using my Naked 2 palette, I applied Verve to the outer 2/3 of my lid. I also put a touch of Verve on the inner corner of my eye.
- I added Pistol to the outer corner and a little in my crease and blended it out pretty well
- And then I put just a tiny smidge of Busted on my outer corner and blended it.
Then, using my Vice 2 palette by Urban Decay, I applied Madness to the inner third of my eyelid. I didn’t blend it too much because I found when I blended it, it didn’t have that “pop” I was looking for.
And that’s it! Seriously, so simple, right?
I tried creating a warmer look using some Naked 1 shades and that green color (Damaged) from the Vice 2, and it was okay. I just really prefer cooler looks on me. But this is just one idea, you should just pick shades that suit you and go for it!
Now that I’ve had few good serious shots, I’m obsessed with getting another. But I seem to have lost the ability again. Boo. You get the idea, though.
Other products I used:
- Too Faced Brow Envy kit to fill in my brows
- Mally Volumizing Mascara
- Urban Decay 24/7 liquid liner
- Mally Perfect Prep Under Eye Brightener
- L’Oreal Visible Lift CC Concealer
- Benefit Hoola Bronzer (holy cow, I need to write more about this stuff later!)
- NARS Orgasm blush
- Revlon Lip Butter, Red Velvet + Too Faced Glamour Gloss, Pillow Talk
So there you have it! This look is actually pretty simple and you can do it with LOTS of different colors. You really don’t need a lot of different colors on your lid, if you want to sweep one neutral on and then add that color on the inner corner, do it! It will look great. My hope is to just give you some ideas and hopefully bring you color-phobes into the light!
Have a great Monday!
