I frequently get asked, “What brand of ___ are you wearing?” and I find myself answering more and more often, “It’s by Mally.” Most of the time, the inquirer has no clue who/what I’m talking about, and I’ve decided that needs to change! I’ll try to keep it simple:
If you haven’t tried any Mally Beauty products, you should.
Last spring after stumbling upon one of her dynamic appearances on QVC, I bought my first Mally product. I purchased it from Ulta because I didn’t want to wait for it to be shipped to my house! And it was love at first application.
Here’s the thing I love about Mally: her products make makeup easy. They are products are easy to understand (how they work), easy to apply, and they LAST all day. As much as I love playing with makeup, most days I need to keep my looks simple and fast. And Mally’s products are perfect for that! They are fantastic for busy moms who want quick and easy looks that still look great.
Here’s a quick run down of the products I’ve tried so far:
Perfect Prep Under Eye Brightener: I’ve written about this before, and I’m as enamored with it now as I was back then. I use it every day.
Perfect Prep Primer Glow: I love the way this feels on my skin (I’m picky about how my primer feels) and I really feel like it makes my skin look glowy. It’s basically awesome.
Cancellation Concealer: This product is incredible! The concealer itself does an amazing job of concealing without looking cakey, and the setting powder really finishes the look and makes it last. I’ve tried any number of concealers and I feel like this is my new concealer for life.
Evercolor Shadow Sticks: These have been game-changers for me. These are eyeshadows that come in a stick form, you apply them directly to the eyelids, and they last and last and last all day. I have two lighter, shimmery shades (Champagne and Saddle Shimmer) and I absolutely adore them. I also have a dark matte purple shade (Purple Rain) and although I like that one as well, I have noticed that it does crease and show a little more wear as the day goes on. Overall, though, these are one of my very favorite products. I love how I never have to worry about fallout, they stay all day, and they are incredibly easy to apply (as well as fast)!
Volumizing Mascara and Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner: The thing I love about these products is that they don’t flake and smudge. The mascara makes my lashes look great without clumping and the eyeliner is smooth and easy to apply.
High Shine Liquid Lipstick: These are shiny, smooth, and non-drying. I have at least one in my purse at all times.
Evercolor Poreless Face Defender: This is a finishing product and it is fantastic for minimizing the look of pores and keeping your makeup in place all day.
The point? Mally’s stuff is just amazing! If you want to get started, I would consider trying one of her shadow sticks or the under eye brightener (if that’s something you need). Those are probably my favorite products, although I love them all! I’m planning on starting a series on “mommy makeup”–the kind of looks I use almost daily, and you’ll soon see that I rely heavily on my Mally Beauty products for these looks!
I also want to take a minute and share my thoughts about Mally’s book, Love, Lashes and Lipstick.
I LOVED this book.
When it first came out, I have to admit, I had no interest in reading it. But then the reviews started coming in, and I became more and more intrigued, until I finally bought a copy for myself.
And let me tell you, I couldn’t put it down!
The book is part memoir, part beauty advice and I loved both aspects of it! I loved reading about Mally’s life and how she became a makeup artist and then makeup designer. I found it absolutely fascinating. And her makeup tips were brilliant, some of them totally life-changing! I find myself turning to the book over and over to practice different looks and try new techniques.
One of my favorite quotes from the book was this, when Mally writes about having it all:
The question you have to ask yourself is: What is your all? What do you want? What will fulfill you as a human being? Is it being a businessperson who can have a family too? Is it being a stay-at-home-mom who devotes herself to her family and community? Is it being a hip city chick with a blog and a tech day job, dating lots of different people? Are you ready to leave the nine-to-five world to follow your bliss?
Forget what everyone else says. Put what you want into words. Say it out loud. Say it often. Say it to yourself, to your friends, to the universe. Words have power. They can heal and they can create. Let your words create the life that you want.
Reading these words really helped pull me out of a slump I was in. Sometimes as a stay at home mom, I feel so insignificant, but this book helped me realize that I am significant, as long as I’m doing my best at whatever I’m doing. It doesn’t matter what the rest of the world thinks.
I could go on and on about all the things I loved about this book. But I’ll just say that you should read it for yourself so you can find your own things that you love about it!
In short, try Mally’s products. You’ll love them. I’ve gotten several people hooked on them, and it hasn’t been hard to do! People who try her stuff love it.
And while you’re at it, consider reading her book too. It’s both useful and entertaining and definitely worth reading!
Have a great week everyone!
